LifeLock has been in the identity theft protection business since 2005. Located in Tempe, Arizona, the company is backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, a leading global venture capital firm. LifeLock provides its comprehensive identity theft detection, prevention and remediation services to individuals and families living in the US, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The company also offers identity theft protection programs to businesses to protect their employees and customers, and offers free consumer education programs that focus on identity theft awareness and prevention.
Services – LifeLock offers two identity theft protection plans. Its basic LifeLock plan provides detection services that consist of Internet monitoring for illegal trading or selling of your personal information and nationwide address database monitoring for fraudulent address changes. Protection services in the LifeLock plan include alerts when your personal information is used to apply for credit or services and removal of your name from pre-approved credit card offer mailing lists. Remediation services provided are WalletLock, if your wallet is stolen and credit cards need to be cancelled or personal identification and insurance cards replaced, and a $1 million service guarantee if you become a victim of identity theft while enrolled in LifeLock.
Lifelock Command Center
The LifeLock Command Center plan provides all the services of the basic LifeLock plan, as well as additional detection services. They include: personal breach detection services that monitor unregulated Internet file sharing and other global networks for misuse of your personal information; payday loan alerts in case someone tries to take out a payday loan using your name; sex offender registry alerts that provide you with a list of sex offenders living in your zip code and warns you if a sex offender fraudulently uses your home address; public records alerts that provide all postal addresses contained in public records that are linked to your identity; alias records alerts that lists alternate names found in public records that are linked to your personal information; and court records alerts that provide you with court records containing your name to ensure criminals are not using your identity to commit crimes.

Reputation – LifeLock, which is an accredited Better Business Bureau company, is the recipient of several awards that recognize the effectiveness of its identity theft protection plans as well as its business practices. Recovery – LifeLock offers a $1 million total service guarantee in the event its identity theft protection fails and you become a victim of identity theft. The service guarantee pays for lawyers, investigators and other expenses necessary to help victims recover from financial losses and restore their name and credit. Victims are assigned a member services agent, toll-free access to a dedicated resolution phone line and a third party recovery specialist. Remediation services range from providing required federal and state forms and power of attorney services.
Customer Service – LifeLock has a toll-free number that is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Inquiries also can be e-mailed, faxed, or sent regular mail to the corporate office, with contact information prominently displayed on the LifeLock website. Discounts and Pricing – A discounted rate is available using the link below or the link provided on the comparison chart. Without the discount, the basic LifeLock plan costs $10 a month, or $110 yearly for a $10 savings. The LifeLock Command Center plan is $15 a month or $165 a year for a $15 savings.
